Head Doctor & Power outages

Monday was my day for a little head doctoring!

Head Doc #1 - I think I commented somewhere recently that I had received THE WORST HAIRCUT EVER IN MY ENTIRE LIFE! The friend I mentioned (who is due in a couple days) is my hairdresser but she has not been working so I went somewhere else, big mistake! Long story short, She fixed it for me. I still have some work to do with it but I'm not crying about it anymore.

Head Doc #2 - I went to my first session with my new therapist. I'm gonna delve deep people. Being labeled as having PTSD and Anxiety Disorder is not really okay with me. So here we go again. I am encouraged to learn some tools beyond "Blame your parents" which seems like I have received all my other attempts.

Head Doc #3 - Well, not really a Doc but I made it to a support group! (banding group) I don't think I have physically or mentally been able to get to one since August, 2010. I need to make that more of a priority. It always offers something.

Yesterday, around 2am our power went out due to wind. I had a big day ahead and needed my coffee. As I posted on Facebook "Need is the mother of invention".
I ground my beans up using the AC plug in my SUV and boiled my water on my BBQ burner. (I french press my coffee - reads coffee Snob)

So In Your Face Mother Nature!

I got my coffee anyhow.

With the two busy days I didn't get my hikes in but I was careful with calories. Today, with nowhere to be I was so ready to get out there and climb! 1hr 20min today!

Go Me!

:) Jen

  2. Mother of invention indeed! We have a great deal in common, I need to e-mail you privately, but I was treated for PTSD and was also diagnosed with Fibromyalgia years ago, which I'm sure now was a physical symptom of my other issues. you can send me your e-mail address or you can message me on FB. Good luck!

  4. I cannot wait to hear about your therapy...go for me so I can learn too! You are so getting healthy all the way around. I'm an anxiety girl too - if I was ever clinically diagnosed - it'd be off the charts. *sigh*

  8. Ugh...the dreaded bad haircut. I had one last year...around this time (the last time I had my hair cut, too) and I criiiiiiiiiiiiiied. My husband thought I was overreacting. No one really gets it when there's a bad haircut. I feel for ya! BUT! I do know this: it'll grow out. As "enh" as that sounds to you now.

    HUGS!

  10. Hi Jen! Thanks for following me! I have been reading up on your most recent posts of the last month or so, I will read the whole blog later.

I too have Fibromyalgia and Interstitial Cystitis, among other things. And I have been tested, and had multiple x-rays, and had way too many MRI's to say.

So I can totally relate to what you are going through. And although I am mostly under control with medications, you my friend are just now getting started. Let me know if you have any questions...

Here's hoping that your Rheumatologist does wonders for you! Sounds like he will, since he is also a Fibromyalgia sufferer. Since most Doctor's still believe that Fibromyalgia symptoms are just the figment of our imaginations!! LOL

Go you on losing over 90 lbs so far!! I have only lost a total of 55 lbs in 15 1/2 months!! But I am getting ready to go to Hawaii in 6-8 months so I am now highly motivated to lose much more!

  11. Hello Jen - since I've known your commenters for some years, I'm so surprised that I haven't come across your blog before - and now only because of your meeting up with Debi and Band Gal. I've much enjoyed reading back through your blog, and the interesting life you lead. I envy your determination too (sigh).
